Google has recently made a change to its review requesting guidelines, advising businesses not to “discourage or prohibit negative reviews or selectively solicit positive reviews from customers.”
Google is enforcing its new policy, and may go so far as to remove non-compliant businesses’ reviews in bulk—something we’re determined not to let happen to our clients. This significant change will affect review requesting practices throughout the industry.
While our platform has historically been agnostic regarding our clients’ review requesting policies, given the change in Google’s guidelines, the platform now precludes selective review requesting. Asking all of your customers (not just the happy ones) to review your business is a best practice—and our data indicates it actually improves reputation more than selectively requesting reviews.
